Donald Jones, Jacksonville Fire Dept.

It is with deepest regret to inform our membership of LODD. On March 19, 2012, Captain Donald Jones AEMTA member #7034 was struck and killed by a motor vehicle at the scene of a separate accident. Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to his family and to our brothers and sisters of the Jacksonville Fire Department. Also our prayers go out to fellow AEMTA member and Firefighter/EMT Jason Bowmaster and his family, who was also struck at the same incident and is currently recovering from severe injuries.

We have some great speakers. There will be update classes on Trauma, Emergency Medical Responders, Lay Evaluators and Lay Evaluator Instructors. There will be classes on self defense for EMS personnel and lots more. Also, a “Meet and Greet Social” Friday night at the Holiday Inn Express. You can find registration forms, hotel information and etc. on AEMTA website. Hope to see you there.

On May 23rd, we have the Parade of Lights in Little Rock. We hope to have lots of lights and sirens to represent our association and services throughout the state. You can find out more information on AEMTA website as the time grows nearer.

Taylor Sr. EMS Scholarship Poker Run will be held April 21, 2012 starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m., with lunch to follow at Prairie Grove Battlefield Park. All vehicles welcome. There will be door prizes, a raffle, a 50/50 pull, and free lunches for participants. The first 50 entries will receive a free t-shirt. There will be prizes for the best and worst poker hands.

David’s scholarship fund reaches across the entire state of Arkansas to help EMT and Paramedic student’s to further their education in the EMS field.  David was very passionate about EMS. His vision was to see that the state of Arkansas become one of the top Trauma Centers in the nation. David went to be with his heavenly father before he could see his vision become reality, but with the help of his EMS family and people throughout Arkansas, his vision can continue helping the EMS students of Arkansas.
